IT Network Engineer

Location: Weybridge


We are seeking a skilled IT Network Engineer to maintain and optimize our network infrastructure across our international offices. You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of systems across various platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of network infrastructure, hardware, and servers, and be proficient in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting a variety of network devices such as WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and servers. This role may require occasional travel and out-of-hours work when necessary.

 

Principal Responsibilities:
As an IT Network Engineer, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining, implementing, and troubleshooting the company’s network infrastructure.
  • Managing and configuring firewalls to ensure network security.
  • Resolving network-related issues escalated from the Service Desk and monitoring system alerts.
  • Implementing new security measures for the network.
  • Monitoring and optimizing network performance, making adjustments where necessary.
  • Ensuring all changes to production infrastructure are properly documented and approved before deployment.
  • Supporting data security initiatives, including threat prevention, hunting, remediation, and firewall rule management.
  • Participating in the Incident Response process to identify, isolate, and eliminate security threats and vulnerabilities.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving, project management, and network infrastructure knowledge. Experience with hardware configuration, troubleshooting, and firewalls is essential.

 

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of network routing and switching.
  • Familiarity with Azure and AWS Networking.
  • Experience with Palo Alto, Prisma firewalls.
  • Proficiency in routing protocols, including BGP.
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for planning and design.
  • Experience working across different levels within IT and external teams.
  • Practical experience with Internet and WAN services: MPLS, Leased Lines, and Site-to-Site VPNs.
  • Azure Networking expertise, especially with EXPRESSROUTE, Azure VPN, Azure Firewall, and Checkpoint NVA.
  • Proficient in using tools like Wireshark for packet capture analysis.
  • Strong technical documentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Security-focused mindset with a deep understanding of security principles.
  • Experience in network design and architecture.

 

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with CISCO, Fortigate, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Meraki.
  • ITIL framework knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with exposure to matrix management.

 

Education, Qualifications, and Certifications:

  • CCNP or equivalent experience.
