Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery, located in North Lincolnshire, is a key asset of the Prax Group, a British multinational energy conglomerate dealing in crude oil, petroleum products and biofuels and is the only British refiner remaining in the UK energy market.
The refinery processes up to 5.4 million tonnes of crude oil per year (up to 113,000 barrels a day) and incorporates some of the most advanced refining and conversion processes in Europe, supplying products by road, rail, sea and pipeline.

We are looking for
Candidates who can demonstrate both their skills and technical knowledge, coupled with the ability to problem solve in a practical and dynamic environment. You should have a good academic history and be expecting a good classification of degree.
We are offering
11-12-month industrial placement position working in the Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, Inspection (HSEQI) Department of the refinery. This is an excellent opportunity for an undergraduate studying for an accredited Chemical Engineering degree (with Process Safety and/or Environmental interest), starting their placement year in September 2025. The role will primarily be one of providing support to the Process Safety and Environmental Teams and will give you first-hand exposure to an industrial setting. This diverse role will include key tasks relating to:
- Control of Major Accident Hazard (COMAH) compliance
- Process Safety Studies such as HAZOP/LOPA
- Management of Change
- Monitoring compliance of refinery emissions and the refinery’s environmental permit
- Working with various engineering disciplines to improve the site’s process safety & environmental performance
Dependent upon performance, a student may be offered full-time employment on the Prax Graduate Engineer Development Programme, and possible sponsorship through to graduation.
