Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery located in North Lincolnshire is a key asset for the Prax Group and is a world-class supplier of quality fuels. Constructed in 1968, it has the capacity to process up to 5.4 million tonnes of crude oil per year (up to 113,000 barrels a day) and currently employs around 450 staff in addition to a similar complement of contract personnel. The refinery extends over 500 acres and incorporates some of the most advanced refining and conversion processes in Europe, supplying products by road, rail, sea and pipeline.
To meet future demands, Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery is developing a next generation refinery with an unwavering commitment to decarbonise and reduce our CO2 released into atmosphere, as the site transitions to become a leading, low carbon refinery. The refinery is looking to recruit new Operator Trainee’s to work in the Performance Teams. The roles are ideal for individuals who are committed, eager to make a valuable contribution, enjoy challenges and who thrive in hands-on roles. This opportunity brings a chance to learn new skills while supporting the development, and growth of the refinery.
Key Activities:
- Monitor and Operate Equipment Regularly checks and operates plant and equipment, ensuring they meet production standards and schedules.
- Chemical Handling: Safely handles chemicals, ensuring proper storage and off-loading.
- Report Issues: Identifies and reports faults or damages to plant and equipment during inspections.
- Maintenance Preparation: Prepares equipment for maintenance, including SIOPE procedures.
- Start-up/Shutdowns: Participates in equipment start-up and shutdown processes
- Continuous Improvement: Engages in initiatives aimed at operational excellence and ongoing improvements.

Selection Process & Training Program:
- Applicants will be required to complete aptitude tests to ensure they have requisite ability for the openings.
- Successful candidates will undergo a comprehensive, structured training program providing detailed knowledge of the principles of refining and equipment infrastructure. After which, they will be able to successfully operate its process equipment to produce high quality finished products, in compliance with procedures, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
To be considered for the Operator Trainee positions, applicants must meet at least one of the following educational or qualification requirements.
5 GCSE’s including Maths, English and a science subject or an equivalent qualification.
or
City & Guilds qualification or equivalent in Engineering
or
City & Guilds 060 / NVQ in Process Operations or an equivalent qualification
These qualifications ensure that applicants have the necessary foundational skills or relevant industry knowledge to succeed in the role.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate good team-working skills with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
